The Who will play Fenway Park in September

Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend will bring a 'symphonic accompaniment' to North America later this year

The Fenway Park concert announcements for 2019 are coming fast n’ furious. And now we can add The Who to the live music season at the home of the World Series champion Boston Red Sox.

After last week’s Fenway announcements of Phish and Billy Joel, the legendary British rock band revealed their 2019 Moving On! tour, and it comes to Boston’s beloved ballpark on September 13.

Tickets for the Fenway Park performance go on sale Thursday, January 24 via RedSox.com/TheWho.

Singer Roger Daltrey and guitarist and songwriter Pete Townshend — joined here by guitarist/backup singer Simon Townshend, keyboardist Loren Gold, bassist Jon Button and drummer Zak Starkey — are said to be bringing a “symphonic accompaniment” to North American shores this year. This run also includes gigs at New York City’s Madison Square Garden and the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles.

“The Who are touring again in 2019,” says Townshend. “Roger christened this tour Moving On! I love it. It is what both of us want to do. Move on, with new music, classic Who music, all performed in new and exciting ways. Taking risks, nothing to lose. Looking forward to seeing you all. Are you ready?”

Adds Daltrey: “Be aware Who fans! Just because it’s The Who with an orchestra, in no way will it compromise the way Pete and I deliver our music. This will be full throttle Who with horns and bells on.”
