Batting leadoff for the Duck Boats during the Red Sox championship parade? Dropkick Murphys.
Of course.
It seems the Boston Red Sox, fresh off their 2018 World Series win against the Los Angeles Dodgers, have invited our city’s favorite Celtic punk band to ride in the lead vessel during Wednesday’s celebratory parade through Boston. The parade gets started around 11 a.m. on Lansdowne Street next to Fenway Park, makes its way along Boylston and Tremont Streets and concludes around Government Center.
And we’ll be “Shipping up to Boston” the entire time.
The Dropkicks unveiled the news earlier today, revealing that they were personally invited by Red Sox manager Alex Cora. They write on Twitter and at dropkickmurphys.com:
Coach Cora said “we need this parade to be special… it’s for the greatest team in Red Sox history …we need a band to lead if off with a bang .!!!” We said “give us the ball coach …put us on duck boat number ONE we wanna set the tone for the best parade in Boston history.”
AC tossed us the ball and said “Duck One is all yours boys give em hell !!!” See you Wendsday everybody we’ll be leading the way !!!
Boston gonna Boston.
