Last week we rode a disco-fed house music groove supplied by Amy Douglas and DFA, and now we have the perfect song to segue into as nighttime turns to morning, courtesy of Jessie Ware.
The British singer returns this week with “Overtime”, her first bit of new music since last year’s Glasshouse LP, and it’s a similarly-minded clubland jam pulled directly from a late-night dance floor mix. “Overtime” was produced by Simian Mobile Disco’s James Ford and Bicep’s Andy Ferguson and Matt Mcbriar, and official hit the streams yesterday (October 3) via PMR Records/Friends Keep Secrets/Interscope Records.
And it could suggest a modified sound for the pop-R&B performer.
“‘Overtime’ is a taste of what’s to come,” Ware says. “It’s been really fun being back in the studio and I’m so excited to share this track. I worked on it with some of my favorite producers; James Ford and the guys of Bicep. It feels like I’m going back to my early days; it’s a late-night song to flirt too. Whilst I carry on working on new music, I hope you really enjoy this one.”
