Over the summer we were introduced to a rising alt-pop artist named E^ST, who struck a chord of warm, ’90s-kissed R&B familiarity with “I Don’t Lack Imagination”. Now the Australian performer born Mel Bester is back feeling the opposite of familiar on her new song “Alien”, a dramatic swirler of a shaded pop joint that’s all about not fitting in. “This song is about feeling like an outsider in the world, where even doing ‘normal’ things like getting the bus or dancing can make you feel weird and out of place,” E^ST says, as we all nod in understanding. “And it’s calling out to others who might feel the same, in the hopes that feeling ‘alien’ can bring us together.” E^ST is set to release a new EP titled Life Ain’t Always Roses this fall, and it hits here in North America come October 26 via Fueled By Ramen. The seven-track release should have her feeling less and less like an “Alien” for sure. Featured image via High Rise.
