Tokyo Police Club have been busy creating a sweet melodic racket for the past decade or so, but still feel and sound like a band boosted by fresh energy. On Friday (September 7), the Ontario aughts-rock survivalists release new single “Simple Dude,” another cut off their forthcoming October 5 album TPC, which is served up by Dine Alone Records. The weathered guitar-rock track comes today with a music video crafted from film negatives shot by bassist/vocalist Dave Monks during album recording sessions in Los Angeles, which were then animated by videographer Anne Douris. “To me — ‘Simple Dude’ is a roller coaster… the slow climb of the verse — the drop of the chorus… that lift in the pit of your gut as you pull back up into the second verse and that feeling of just soaring right as the cart slows down towards the end,” says drummer Greg Alsop. “That’s what I felt the first time we played through it and that’s what I still feel every time we play it.” Check the video below, as well as all the upcoming Tokyo Police Club live dates.
