Fantastic Negrito and Walter Sickert & The Army of Broken Toys live in Cambridge

Editor’s Note: The music of Fantastic Negrito is impossible to pin down. From the musical genius mind of Xavier Amin Dphrepaulezz, Fantastic Negrito and his band weave a hustled mix of blues, R&B, and roots — and those sounds and more were in the air Wednesday night (August 29) at The Middle East in Cambridge, the latest stop on their current tour supporting June album Please Don’t Be Dead. Homegrown steamcrunk collective Walter Sickert & The Army of Broken Toys opened the show, reportedly donating their pay from the performance to the Boston Area Rape Crisis Center in response to assault allegations that are currently hanging over the Cambridge venue. Bryan Lasky was in the room on behalf of Vanyaland to capture images from both performances, and you can flip through his full gallery below.
