Belly move to show both what is yours and what is ‘Mine’

Studio 52 is a community artist space located in the heart of Allston, and is proud to support the Boston music scene and local artist community.

Back at Boston Calling we caught up with Tanya Donelly and Gail Greenwood of Belly, chatting with the reunited alt-rock band backstage about their new successfully crowd-funded album Dove. The LP dropped in May, but we’re still receiving treats from it, whether you donated or not.

The latest comes in the visual shape of a video for “Mine”, the efforts of a troika of Gormans (directed by Toll Gorman, produced by Indi Gorman, and edited by drummer Chris Gorman) and depicting a nice mix of pulp comics and scary toy monsters. That’s fitting for a song that starts with lyrics like “Creature of mine we lie side by side again/Creature of mine we lie in the shallow of the bed.”

Belly’s summer and fall tour kicks off this week in Los Angeles, and it makes its way to Boston’s Royale on August 23. The band wants you to get to all shows on the early side. “A reminder to all who plan to come to a show on the upcoming leg of our ’18 Dove Tour — there is no opening act!” they write on Facebook. “It’s just us, playing as much from Star, King and Dove as we can manage — an approximately 2-hour long show with a short break somewhere in the middle. Consult the venue’s website for when the show starts, and whatever the time is, that’ll be when we start playing! We’d really hate to hear that anyone missed the first half of the show because they came late…”

No one wants that.
