For the second half of 2018, it looks like Cardi B will keep on making mommy moves.
The rapper, who was scheduled to tour with Bruno Mars this fall, has announced that she has dropped off the XXIVk Magic Tour Finale to spend more time with her newborn baby daughter and give her body more time to recover from childbirth. She would have performed opening for Mars in Boston at TD Garden on September 27 and 28.
Cardi welcomed her first child, Kulture Kiari Cephus, on July 10 with her husband Offset, of Migos, leaving roughly six weeks between giving birth and when she would have started the tour with Mars.
“I thought that after giving birth to my daughter 6 weeks would be enough time for me to recover mentally and physically,” she shared on Instagram. “I also thought that I’d be able to bring her with me on tour, but I think I underestimated this whole mommy thing. Not only am I just not ready physically, I’m not ready to leave my baby behind since the doctors explained it’s not healthy for her to be on the road.”
Mars hasn’t announced who will be filling Cardi’s shoes as the new opener as of print time, but he has shared a similar statement on Instagram, supporting her decision.
“You are absolutely doing the right thing. I also know we’ll share the stage when the time is right,” he wrote. “We love you Cardi and will play Bodak Yellow every night in your honor.”
