Last week The Growlers announced the lineup for Beach Goth 2018. At first we were like fuck yeah! because this year’s edition features The Voidz, The Drums, GWAR, Jonathan Richman, Bleached, Starcrawler and a bunch of others. But then we remembered this shit’s out in Los Angeles, and got so bummed we didn’t even bang out a post about it. You going to LA this summer? Us neither.
But it turns out all we had to do was wait a little bit, because today The Growlers have revealed their beloved lil’ Beach Goth franchise is going on tour, and it comes to Boston’s Royale on September 19.
Now — this is important — no bands other than The Growlers have been announced just yet. So the August Beach Goth fest out in LA isn’t exactly jumping in the van together and driving east until they hit our Theatre District. Instead, this “swirling psychedelic carnival” will be led by The Growlers and deliver “a multi-sensory concert experience full of variety acts, drag queens, killer bands and a mental stage design.”
The participating bands will be announced soon, but it’ll sure to be a party no matter who or what is on board. Peep all the dates below, and if Los Angeles is in your August itinerary (plot twist!), allow the full Beach Goth 2018 lineup to sway you that way.
