New Sounds: So Below ropes us in with ‘Close’

When it comes to strains of popular music, New Zealand artists can do it all: Lorde’s got her melodramatic pop, The Naked and Famous nail down synth pop (and acoustic reinventions), and now So Below is offering up mellow goth-pop.

With a solid repertoire of cotton-candy-like electronic compositions, the Auckland-based musical project of Madeline North has released its newest ethereal gem “Close,” a more upbeat twist on her usually moody and pensive catalogue.

“It’s time to let me go,” she demands on the chorus, but really, now’s the time to latch on to this track before it blows up any more. Have a listen below.
