Photo Gallery: DakhaBrakha live at Brighton Music Hall in Allston

Editor’s Note: Hey, look, it’s not every day a progressive folk group from Ukraine rolls into Allston. But that’s just what DakhaBrakha did Saturday night (November 18), posting up, furry hats and all, at Brighton Music Hall for the conclusion of World Music/Crash Arts’s fall concert series. Born out of the DAKh Center for Contemporary Art avant-garde theater in Kiev, DakhaBrakha’s music is described as “ethnic chaos”, with its name translating literally from the old Ukrainian language to “give/take.” As Marko Galanevych, Olena Tsybulska, Iryna Kovalenko, Nina Garenetska lined up along the stage at Brighton, Kit Castagne was front-and-center to capture some visuals of the unique performance, and you can scroll through his full gallery below.
