Studio 52 is a community artist space located in the heart of Allston, and is proud to support the Boston music scene and local artist community.

Tonight in the Fenway, we have a Killer Cure for those Halloween blues.

Vanyaland’s annual Halloween saga this year takes us to Hojoko, the Japanese izakaya that’s pretty much a second home for us. And as October 31 rears its ugly-ass head, we’re stacking the deck for a frightful good time as CONTACT perform live as The Cure and Western Education play as The Killers. After the bands, a bloody beat closes the night with CLLCTV, the DJ crew behind the Boston Music Award-nominated party The Wave at Middlesex.

We’ll also have giveaways, specialty drinks and grub, and a costume contest judged harshly, but fairly, by the one and only Ari Zona.

Doors open around 8 p.m., it’s an all ages party, and there is no cover with RSVP.

For a preview of the live sets, check out the snippets from both bands below via Soundcloud, with some commentary from the performers.

“When we were asked to play this show as The Cure originally we had some trepidation as we are trying to finish a record and work on our own songs,” says CONTACT guitarist/vocalist Matt Rhoades. “However, I am so stoked we decided to do this as it has helped me look at my songs a little differently. We all studied The Cure songs and definitely are looking at their structures, synths, and chord progressions in a new way.”

“I was always hesitant to cover The Killers before this,” says Western Education keyboardist/vocalist Greg Alexandropoulos. “If we were going to do it — we wanted to go all-in and really do the songs justice. We’ve been closely tied to the Boston scene for a few years and thought this would be a really great time to do a cover show event. Halloween gives us the appropriate opportunity to have a little fun: Dress like them, act like them, and really put on an entertaining show. The suits will be fancy, the makeup will be glossy, and you can expect to hear a few surprises. We will be dishing out all the big favorites as well as some select album cuts.”

Look bloody sharp.
