Studio 52 Spotlight: Kooked Out
What Studio 52 Says: If you ever need to be schooled on how to make groovy riffs slam, talk to John Fiore, singer and guitarist of Studio 52’s own Kooked Out. By combining elements of surf rock, blues, and punk rock, they have created a unique interpretation of the term rock and roll. Old school surf rock guitar tones for days; groovy-yet-banging surf/punk drums complemented by driving bass lines epitomize their 2016 self titled debut album, which gloats everything from love songs to political statements (addressing the current police state in America) to a banging cover of the Surfari’s hit Wipe Out. They’re actively and regularly gigging all over New England, and seeing these guys live is a high energy experience. Catch them this Tuesday (October 10) at the Middle East Upstairs, kicking off the night for The Stone Foxes and Big Jon and The Mattress Factory. — Trevor McSweeney, Studio 52
