Guster in, Miguel out at Thursday’s ‘NFL Kickoff’ party at Columbus Park in Boston

Guster’s year-long 25th anniversary celebration just got an unexpected boost, as they’ll be soundtracking the NFL’s kickoff party Thursday (September 7) at Christopher Columbus Park in Boston.

The “2017 NFL Kickoff Driven By Hyundai” concert was supposed to feature an appearance by R&B crooner Miguel, but he apparently had to bail “due to an illness.” So in come Guster, the Boston alt-rock trio who started the year with a four-night residency at the Paradise Rock Club and who last month completed a weekend-long “Guster On The Ocean” series in Maine that featured various shows by land and sea around the Portland area. They are best known for their 2000s singles “Amsterdam” and “Satellite.”

The NFL “Kickoff” party on Thursday afternoon celebrates the start of the 2017 regular season, with the New England Patriots hosting the Kansas City Chiefs at Gillette Stadium later that night. Admission is free.

Here’s official word on the festivities from the NFL, via DJ Bean on Twitter. He was gonna write us a letter, but instead just tweeted out the press release:
