For the past several years, Bearstronaut have perfected tropical sunshine pop within the cold, rigid confines of New England. Last night (August 17), the quartet — who inspired the launch of Vanya Records back in 2011 with their single “Moniker” and won Best Electronic Artist at last year’s Boston Music Awards — made their national television debut, showing Los Angeles and the rest of the country how they do with a spirited performance on Jimmy Kimmel Live.
After actress Salma Hayek and comedian Jay Ellis did their thing on Kimmel’s couch, Bearstronaut performed two tracks as part of the Mercedes-Benz Concert Series, both off their recent debut LP Telecoast. The first, “Shadow,” was included in the TV broadcast, and the second, “Gold,” is available for online audiences.
