New Sounds: Here comes Wolf Alice with the best 131 seconds of your hot sweaty day

Let’s get right to it: Wolf Alice released a new song today (June 12), and it’s fucking gnarly.

Clocking in at 131 seconds, “Yuk Foo” is a blistering guitar-rock jam that warrants multiple listens. Yes, we know it’s a million degrees outside. Yes, we know it hurts to move. But dam, if this joint doesn’t make you want to release some aggression by flipping over the closest Green Line train then we don’t know what to tell you.

What we do know is this: “Yuk Foo” — which reminds us of something between Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ early years and Atari Teenage Riot — is the first spiked taste off Wolf Alice’s upcoming sophomore album, Visions Of A Life, due out September 29 via Dirty Hit/RCA Records. It was produced by Justin Meldal-Johnsen and mixed by Tom Elmhirst.

This new Wolf Alice joint will sound extra ferocious in dirty ol’ rock clubs across the country, and that’s what Ellie Rowsell and the lads will do this summer. Their stateside “underplay” tour kicks off July 5 in Chicago and wraps July 26 in Los Angeles, and sometime in between crashes Great Scott in Allston on July 10.

Tickets for all dates go on sale on tomorrow (June 13) at 10 a.m. local time, and you’re probably advised to snag one in advance. Peep all the Wolf Alice dates and fire up the strobe-lit lyric video below.
