German music festival Rock am Ring postponed and evacuated after ‘terrorist threat’

This post is being updated.

A music festival in Germany has been postponed and evacuated Friday night (June 2) due to a “terrorist threat.”

Rock am Ring, a three-day music fest in the German town of Nürburg and headlined by Rammstein and System of a Down, immediately ceased operations over safety concerns.

“Due to a terrorist threat the police have advised us to interrupt the festival,” organizers write on Facebook. “We ask all festival visitors to leave the festival site in a calm and controlled manner towards the exits and camping grounds. We have to support the police investigations. All visitors will be kept informed about any developments on all Rock am Ring Social Media channels, radio and the speakers. We hope that the festival will continue tomorrow. Thank you for your cooperation.”

It’s unclear when the threat became imminent and when the decision to evacuate the grounds was made. We’ll post more information as it becomes available.

Also slated to perform this weekend at Rock am Ring are Prophets of Rage, Liam Gallagher, Crystal Fighters, Sum 41, Bastille, and others. See the full lineup below.
