John Thomas “Sib” Hashian, best known as the drummer for legendary rock band Boston, died last night (March 22) while performing the band’s songs on the Legends of Rock Cruise.

The news was first reported today by TMZ, and Ernie Boch, who played with Hashian in his band the Automatics, confirmed the news via WCVB. Hashian was 67.

According to reports, Hashian collapsed mid-set. Medics on the ship attempted to revive him via CPR and by use of a defibrillator but were unsuccessful.

The Legends of Rock Cruise left Florida on March 18, and has stops in Puerto Rico and the Bahamas. Hashian was performing with fellow Boston member Barry Goudreau on the cruise, and TMZ says the performers on the ship are paying tribute to Hashian today.

Hashian played drums on Boston’s first two albums, considered to be classics in the rock genre, spawning singles like “More Than A Feeling,” “Peace of Mind,” and “Don’t Look Back.”
