Editor's Note: There was a point sometime during Japandroids' action-packed set at Royale last night (February 20) when someone in the sold-out crowd shouted "Let's go Rangers!" It was an odd declaration, and one that perplexed the Vancouver duo. Was it a diss on the 1994 Stanley Cup Finals, when the Rangers defeated the Canucks? And if so, then why wasn't there some good-natured Bruins ribbing, considering the hometown black and gold defeated Vancouver's boys for the Cup just six years ago? We may never know the answer. But what we do know is that Japandroids continue to demolish every room they play in, whether it be Great Scott (which got a shout out from Brian King and David Prowse), Brighton Music Hall, or the Theatre District club. On the road to support ferocious new guitar rock LP Near To The Wild Heart Of Life, Japandroids rolled through with with Craig Finn And The Uptown Controllers by their side, and Ben Stas was on hand for Vanyaland to capture evidence of the action.
