New Sounds: Watch Thalia Zedek’s E go black and white in their ‘Great Light’ video

Just before kicking off a 28-date European tour next week in Belgium, Thalia Zedek’s noisy rock trio E have shared their new video for “Great Light.”

The song is the opening cut from E’s self-titled debut album, released last year off Thrill Jockey, and the flickering black-white video was directed by experimental filmmaker Doug Urbank, known for his work at the Metropolitan Waterworks Museum in Boston and the Chicago Underground Film Festival.

E — which in addition to Zedek includes Jason Sanford of Neptune and Karate’s Gavin McCarthy — are self-described as “soul music for machines,” and the video for “Great Light” further speaks to that emotion.

Get their full run of European dates after the video jump, and note that the featured E photo up top was snapped by Vanyaland contributor Ben Stas.
