Here’s a quick peek at the new stage inside the former T.T. The Bear’s Place

The inside of shuttered rock club T.T. The Bear’s Place is currently unrecognizable.

The legendary Cambridge club closed nearly 16 months ago, and since then construction and renovation have been underway to create a new venue, located at T.T.’s familiar address of 10 Brookline Ave. in Central Square, under the ownership of the next-door Middle East Restaurant and Nightclub. Though rumors of the proposed new music space have slowly trickled out — last year we reported the room could be called Sonia’s, and a few months ago we heard it might be some sort of nightclub called Nocturnals — we now have our first look at its interior layout.

And it’s quite different.

Last night, Somerville’s Tom Dubé posted a pic of the unfinished inside of the old T.T.’s space, but one key element is clear — it appears the new stage is situated in the far rear of venue. The image below is said to be facing Sidney Street, which runs parallel to Brookline Avenue. From this image, and judging from the glass panes in the background, it seems the new stage is located between the old pool room and bathrooms.

That’s enough to give the new club, whatever it may be called, a whole new vibe and feel. We’ll post more information as we get it.
