Thanksgiving is a week from today. And due to the current political and social climate, it’ll likely be pretty awkward for many of us around that big ol’ dinner table. Luckily this weekend, there’s a bit of a different type of family reunion in Boston and Cambridge, as Letters To Cleo are back with a pair of sold-out shows, Saturday at the Paradise Rock Club, and Sunday night at the Sinclair.
The Harvard Square gig is doubling as a fundraiser for Girls Rock Campaign Boston, thanks to Tito’s Handmade Vodka, and over on the V:List we have a few pairs of tickets to give away.
Earlier this month, we asked Kay Hanley why the reunited alt-rock band has teamed up with GRCB.
“It’s an organization that encourages girls to gain confidence through performance, collaboration, creativity, and making noise,” she tells us via Instagram. “Which is something I can relate to very deeply.”
At the Sinclair on Sunday, there will be other ways to contribute to GRCB. Tito’s will be matching donations to the organization, up to $5,000, by contributing $1 for every Tito’s cocktail sold at the show. So now not only are you rocking out for a good cause, but now you’re drinking for a good cause as well! GRCB will be at the Harvard Square rock club to take on-site donations as well.
Last month, Letters To Cleo released their long-awaited comeback EP, Back To Nebraska, and you can stream it via Spotify below. It doesn’t take long into opening track “Can’t Say”, with its references to the Mass Pike and winter jackets, to feel like home.
ENTER TO WIN: Letters To Cleo, live at the Sinclair, on November 20.
