After giving a fresh batch of songs a test drive during a Vancouver residency earlier this month and a pair of Brooklyn shows over the weekend, Japandroids have officially announced their new album. It’ll be titled Near to the Wild Heart of Life, and it’s out sometime in 2017 via Anti-.
No specific street date has been revealed, but word is the new LP could arrive as early as January. That would certainly be an excellent way to welcome the New Year.
Near to the Wild Heart of Life will be Japandroids’ third studio album, and the follow-up to the Canadian duo’s 2012 breakout record Celebration Rock. Earlier today, Brian King and David Prowse officially announced the album with a 37-second video that you can watch below.
Japandroids play a one-off in Mexico City on November 25 before heading to Australia for a string of December dates.
