Watch Electric Street Queens get wild at Jacques’ with Drag Race’s Katya Zamolodchikova

By Michael O'Connor Marottaon October 17, 2016

Two distant years ago, Electric Street Queens provided us with 62 gloriously animated seconds of witch tits, penis-flute-playing kitties, and a whole lot of NSFW goodness in the time-honored family spirit of Halloween. Now, Boston’s badass rock brigade is back, trading in their NSFW for some DGAF, and have enlisted the incredible talents of hometown hero and drag queen Katya Zamolodchikova.

Ms. Katya, who has destroyed every glittery stage from local all-inclusive dance parties to RuPaul’s Drag Race on LOGO, makes more than just a cameo in Electric Street Queens’ new video for “Thigh High” — she commandeers a wild glam-racket dungeon party at the infamous Jacques’ Cabaret in Boston’s Bay Village. It looks like quite a time.

While Katya and Electric Street Queens are a match made in our own personal heaven, we had to ask the band just how this all came about.

“Myself and [vocalist] Coco-A-Go-Go met Katya in art school,” guitarist Bobby Abraham tells Vanyaland. “We were in the Studio For Interrelated Media together and we all made weird video art. We’ve been friends for the past decade… We asked around 100 people — her fans and our fans — to meet us at Jacques Cabaret to shoot a sleazy, ’70s, sex-crazed music video.”

The clip sets the tone for the upcoming two-week frenzy leading up to Halloween, and on October 31 devilish fans can glitz out with Electric Street Queens as they perform a live set of Motörhead and Runaways songs at ZuZu in Cambridge alongside CreaturoS as the Stooges, Beach Toys as the Velvet Underground, and others. “It’s free, it’s Halloween,” say the Queens. “They’ll be wigs, they’ll be spandex. What more could you want?”

More Katya? That’s just us being greedy.
