Swedish songwriter extraordinaire Tove Lo is currently on tour with Maroon 5, but it’ll be a matter of no time before she’s headlining arenas on her own. Following the success of slinky pop nugget “Cool Girl”, the first taste of Tove Lo’s upcoming record Lady Wood (out October 28 via Island Records), today delivers another track from the record in the loose, fresh-air pop glider “Influence”.
The song features Tove Lo’s now-trademarked lyrical scandal and double entendre bent, a doting house rhythmical beat, and a guest drop from Wiz Khalifa. It’s cool to see featured guests dropping by to appear on Tove Lo’s original compositions after a string of releases that saw the Swede adding her impassioned charm on recent tracks from Years & Years (“Desire”), Broods (“Freak Of Nature”), Flume (“Say It”), Alesso (“Heroes”), and Nick Jonas (“Close”).
