Much like Boston’s own Quilt, London duo Ultimate Painting create the type of modern psychedelic rock that weaves in and out of the genre’s usual restraints, blending a myriad of other intricate sounds and hazy vibes for an original presentation that feels warmly familiar. This week they’ve raised the anticipatory stakes of new album Dusk, their third in three years and that’s September 30 via Trouble In Mind Records, with the breezy, carefree sway of “Song For Brian Jones”.
The chill new single, as you might have guessed, references the late Rolling Stones co-founder, and you can watch the video for it below.
Composed of Mazes‘ Jack Cooper and James Hoare of Veronica Falls, Ultimate Painting will make the jump across the Atlantic for several dates later this year with New York-based Captured Tracks band EZTV.
Their 12-date run starts just after Thanksgiving in Nashville, and snakes its way around the eastern part of the country before arriving at the Middle East in Cambridge on December 6. The tour concludes the following night at Bowery Ballroom in New York.
