Head Full Of Stars: Coldplay honor the late Gene Wilder with ‘Pure Imagination’ cover

Coldplay brought their A Head Full Of Dreams tour to Denver’s Pepsi Center last night, and managed to sneak in a quick tribute to the late Gene Wilder.

Just hours after the legendary actor and comic passed away at the age of 83, the British rock band covered a “Pure Imagination,” from Wilder’s classic 1971 film Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory. A snippet was posted by Coldplay’s Instagram account after the show; watch and hear it below.

As BrooklynVegan notes, “Pure Imagination” is the song Wilder sings in Willy Wonka when the kids are brought to the chocolate factory and get to experience that “everything’s edible”.

Coldplay’s tour continues tomorrow night in Salt Lake City.

In a world of pure imagination… R42
