Miss Fits: Listen to Katy Goodman and Greta Morgan’s surf-pop cover of ‘Where Eagles Dare’

Another day, another post on the new covers album by Springtime Carnivore’s Greta Morgan and Katy Goodman of La Sera. First we hyped their take on The Replacements’ “Bastards Of Young”, and then we swooned over their heartbreak reboot of “Ever Fallen In Love” by the Buzzcocks. (And just this week, we buzzed feverishly over Springtime Carnivore’s 2016 Song Of The Year contender, “Face In The Moon”.)

We usually don’t roll out post after post about one particular record, but here we are dining on one delicious omelette of disease as Morgan and Goodman today bust out a surf-rock cover of the Misfits’ punk anthem “Where Eagles Dare.” It’s the third and latest cut from what’s shaping up to be one hell of a record, the duo’s Take It, It’s Yours LP, out August 26 on Polyvinyl Records.

“We were goofing around singing it in my backyard and there was something powerful and interesting about hearing our voices harmonize such a traditionally aggressive song,” Morgan says of their “Where Eagles Dare” cover. “The Misfits are one of the punk bands I think of as being most influenced by girl groups of the ’50s and ’60s (the other being The Ramones), so somehow our voices really suited these melodies and the simple chord progression.”

Listen to it below via Soundcloud, and peep all 23 dates of Morgan and Goodman upcoming North American tour, which on October 25 comes to the Brookline Teen Center nestled roughly in the midway point between Coolidge Corner and Brookline Village.
