Back in March, everyone here in the Boston area lost their collective shit over Mac Sabbath, which owns the unlikely title as the world’s greatest McDonald’s-themed Black Sabbath cover band. The curiosity sold out their show at the Middle East in Cambridge, and we heard some people got freaky-deaky at the unofficial afterparty across the street at the Central Square Mickey D’s.
Before the show, we went behind the counter with the band, interviewing the “manager” about their whole routine, and sent a photographer to capture images from their stage show, which features various McDonald’s characters sent straight from Stranger Things’ Upside Down. It was a good time for everyone.
Sadly, it doesn’t look like we’ll get another crack at this musical value meal, as Mac Sabbath have announced a late-summer tour that skips around Boston, Cambridge, and Somerville. Dubbed “Clown Power”, the 21-date features just two New England shows: September 5 in Burlington, Vermont (a city where McDonald’s are not welcome, incidentally), and a September 10 appearance at Northampton’s Pearl Street Ballroom in Western Mass.
Tour dates are below, via CoS, after a clip of Mac Sabbath’s Mid East gig.
