When rumors of Guns N’ Roses’ “classic lineup” reunion first started circulating late last year, the biggest question centered around its players. Would all five members be on board? Would guitarist Izzy Stradlin take part? What about estranged drummer Steven Adler? Turns out that for this summer’s Not In This Lifetime tour — which hits Gillette Stadium later this month, July 19 and 20 — we got three of the five in frontman Axl Rose, guitarist Slash, and bassist Duff McKagan.
But last night in Cincinnati, the rock and roll Voltron inched closer to full Appetite-era completion after Adler jumped on stage and jammed with a Rose-led GnR for the first time in 26 years (Adler left the group in 1990; everyone but the frontman rocked out together at their 2012 Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame induction).
Towards the end of Guns N’ Roses’ set at Paul Brown Stadium, Adler joined the band for debut album tracks “Out Ta Get Me” and “My Michelle”. Watch clips from the show below. And take note for future GnR dates: Only Stradlin remains the missing piece to a full-on classic lineup-era reunion.
