Basque in the Glory: Crystal Fighters prepare new album, announce world tour

Ever since we first accidentally stumbled upon Crystal Fighters — back at SXSW 2010 while waiting to see Class Actress — the multinational band has kept us a bit spellbound. Their 2013 sophomore record Cave Rave defied any real genre labeling, and their live show remains one of the most energetic (and sweaty) we’ve ever seen.

Now, the London-and-Brooklyn-based sextet are going to test out their upcoming new album in venues across several countries this summer and fall. Included in their worldwide run is an 11-date North American run, complete with a September 29 show at the Sinclair in Cambridge.

Says the band, probably in beautiful unison: “We can assure you that this year will be the most epic yet, and are dying to lay you our new album, which is almost finished! Hope you are ready to unite and ride this crystal vibration that we are so happy to have realized together.”

The new album is reported to have been recorded this winter in three distinct locations: Spain’s Basque Country, Los Angeles, and London. That should add up to something sounding pretty interesting. Get to know the Fighters below after the tour date jump.
