Editor’s Note: There’s “sold out”, and then there’s people-are-waiting-in-line-outside-the-venue-the-night-before “sold out”. The latter was the case last night at the House of Blues — an evening that began Monday night for those hoping to get up close and personal with rising alt-pop singer Melanie Martinez, who packed the Lansdowne Street venue with a fury. Martinez, 20-year-old the Long Island singer who gained national acclaim on NBC’s The Voice, was this morning named to this summer’s Kiss Concert, so perhaps her club days are behind her. Vanyaland’s Eddy Leiva was on hand to take shots of the action, including some looks at the opening act, UK rock band Alvarez Kings.
