It’s that time of year again when the grass gets a little greener, the weather gets a little warmer, and the sky starts to show its shades of blue. Spring is on the way and when it comes to local music in Providence, that means that a bunch of bands are starting to embark on a tour. Starting Thursday, indie-pop trio Roz and The Rice Cakes are going to be making people dance and groove all over the south and east coasts with a tour that heads to South-By-Southwest and back, touching down at a couple of their friends’ album release celebrations, and doesn’t get done rocking out until mid-May.
Ahead of the upcoming tour, Vanyaland is jazzed to premiere a new music video from Roz and The Rice Cakes. The clip is for “The Conversation”, the b-side on the band’s Close Encounter 7-inch that was released last year. Watch it below.
Filmed by Jorge Vieira and edited by bassist and guitarist Justin Foster and drummer Casey Belisle, it’s a collage between the band’s stellar live performances on the road and frontwoman Roz Raskin and Belisle singing in front of one of Rhode Island’s fabulous beaches. The song itself is about getting people who wouldn’t normally talk to each other to converse about the issues of today. In 2016, it seems that we need modest and empathic discourse more than ever.
If you’re one of those people living outside of the New England area and you’re craving something new, go check out Roz and The Rice Cakes when they roll through your friendly neighborhood music venue over the next few months. They’ll have brand new t-shirts and temporary tattoos along with their albums and stickers available at their merch table during each stop.
