The sophomore album from DIIV has only been chilling on digital shelves for a few short weeks, but we’re already getting new music from Sky Ferreira’s boyfriend’s band. Yesterday, the Brooklyn lads, led by heartthrob Zachary Cole Smith, shared a cover of Elliott Smith’s “Ballad of Big Nothing,” off the late songwriter’s 1997 album Either/Or, for HERO Magazine’s online HERO Sessions, and today we get a look at DIIV’s full upcoming spring tour to support Is The Is Are.
After a few West Coast dates and a Market Hotel residency this month and next (check the specifics below), DIIV set sail May 21 in Philadelphia and wrap things up with a pair of New England gigs: June 7 at the Sinclair in Cambridge and the following night at the Met in Pawtucket, Rhode Island.
“We’ll be playing lots of new songs, in the same old clothes,” they write. Check out all the dates below, as well as the very cool tour poster by Joji Nakamura, and DIIV’s Elliott Smith cover.
