Impassioned marathon sets… crowd sing-alongs that rise louder than the amps… impromptu off-stage encores on the bar, in the middle of a venue’s floor, out on the street — the Augustines live experience is always unforgettable. So it’s hard to not let the mind race when the first few seconds of the American rock band’s new song, “Are We Alive”, blares out of the speakers and think: Holy shit this is going to sound massive when it’s performed live.
For stateside audiences, that might not be for a while. But Augustines’ new single, the first taste of their upcoming third album due out later this year, certainly suggests good times are coming.
“It is our absolute pleasure and honor to be able to write you today, with the spine tingling news of a new Augustines release,” the band writes this week in a message to its fans. “It’s been quite the winding road to get to this point, but a road we wouldn’t change for the world. We poured our hearts into this record and we truly hope you like it. The album will be available later this year so in the meantime please enjoy our first single off the record.”
Don’t mind if we do. Listen to “Are We Alive” below, and take note: Augustines will be touring Europe with Noel Gallagher for most of April, then play a pair of United Kingdom dates: London’s Electric Ballroom on April 19 and Manchester’s Academy 2 the following night.
