A new graffiti mural paying tribute to the late David Bowie has drawn global ridicule.
A street artist named Trik created the seven-foot art design in the center of English city Sheffield, and while the design is based off Bowie’s Aladdin Sane, many are saying the image looks nothing like the famed rock star. And naturally, social media is having a field day with it, with many recalling that woman who damaged that fresco painting back in 2012.
“How did you find an artist with no idea what Bowie looked like?” asked one person on Twitter.
The reaction has caught the attention of the 25-year-old artist, who tells the BBC: “I’m looking at the reaction right now. It’s not very nice to see people talking about me as an artist… I’m going to get a picture of it, so it will be fine, but I’ve got to do what I’ve got to do.”
Trik hints that he might re-do the mural, and brushed off the snide remarks. “Let them hate,” he says. “I’m finding it fun.”
