Sweet Confection: Steven Tyler to star in Skittles’ upcoming Super Bowl ad

Next month’s Super Bowl 50 will have quite the musical component: Coldplay and Beyoncé are performing during the Halftime Show, Metallica and Cage The Elephant highlight the pre-game “Night Before” party, and Steven Tyler will be pimping Skittles.

The Aerosmith frontman will appear in a televised ad for the candy sometime during the Super Bowl 50 broadcast, Ad Age reports.

“The commercial marks the first time Skittles has featured a celebrity in a ‘Taste the Rainbow’ TV commercial,” they write. “Once again, DDB Chicago is the agency handling the work. Limited details about the new spot were released Thursday, along with video the brand hopes people will use as a GIF… Using the Aerosmith front man is a switch for the brand, which opted not to use celebrities in last year’s Super Bowl spot. Instead, it showed how certain men decide who gets the last lemon Skittle: a bit of public arm wrestling.”

In the promo shots, Tyler grips a Skittles mic stand — but unfortunately that sweet-ass prop won’t be in the actual commercial.
