6. Grimes, “Kill V. Maim” [4AD]
We all waited impatiently for Grimes latest album, Art Angels, and few were disappointed. First she lured us in with the bubbly synth-pop of “Flesh Without Blood,” and then delivered the knock-out punch with “Kill Vs Maim,” a ferocious stage barker that someone draws from both t.A.T.u and Tay Tay. The first time I heard this, I was driving home from the Kowloon in Saugus, coming over the Tobin Bridge looking over Boston’s skyline, and for one fleeting moment in 2015, things felt more than just OK.
