UPDATE November 30, 10:32 a.m. EST: Aaaaaaand the Agganis location is now confirmed by Live Nation. Tickets go on sale this Friday.
Ever since the Cure announced their 2016 North American tour last month, one of the big mysteries was the location of the Boston date.
The legendary British band’s tour itinerary included a June 16 stop in Boston, but the venue and ticket on-sale information was left “to be announced.”
Today, it looks like Pollstar spilled the beans: according to the concert tracking website, The Cure will apparently play Agganis Arena on Commonwealth Avenue in Boston. They previously played Agganis back on May 12, 2008, for the 4Tour World Tour.
Though the show is not confirmed on either the Cure’s official website or the Boston University arena’s homepage, this news does align with what our sources told us a few weeks ago: that Agganis was holding the date for the Cure, though there was a chance that another booking company in Boston were prepared to make a stronger offer and house the concert elsewhere. Columbus alt-rock duo Twenty One Pilots are playing Agganis on June 14 and 15, so the venue will be stage-equipped and suited for a concert when the Cure roll into town.
We’ll pass along ticket information as it becomes available. Scottish rock band the Twilight Sad will open the show.
