Back To The Mills: Kula Shaker tease new album, announce handful of 2016 live dates

This morning we’ve already heralded the return of shoegazing Britpoppers Lush, who announced their comeback complete with career-spanning reissues and an as-of-right-now one-off live date early next year in London, the band’s first in 20 years.

Not to be outdone, Britpop waterboys Kula Shaker have announced their return as well, teasing some new material with an eclipse-themed video and unveiling a 12-date live tour this February and March. The run hits the UK, Europe, and Russia; check the full list of dates below. They’ll also play the Roundhouse in London, the site of the Lush reunion gig and Suede’s Night Thoughts film and album premiere in November.

Party like it’s 1995!

“The Time has come!” reads Kula Shaker’s Facebook post. “Kula Shaker have finally emerged from the silence and mark their return with live dates throughout the UK & Beyond….”

Earlier this year, interest in the Crispian Mills-led band rose ever so slightly after their 1997 cover of Deep Purple’s ’60s rock jam “Hush” appeared in TV ads for Kingsman: The Secret Service. Though Kula Shaker are best known for their 1996 debut album K, which spawned the UK hit “Tattva,” they broke up in 1999 after sophomore effort Peasants, Pigs & Astronauts. They reformed in the 2000s and released two additional albums, 2007’s Strangefolk and Pilgrims Progress in 2010.
