In a weird twist of irony, Jon Stewart made his final appearance on Comedy Central’s The Daily Show last night not too long after the Republican Presidential debate suggested we’ll need him more than ever over the next several months. But as the longtime host said goodbye, fellow New Jersey titans Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band sent Stewart off in a blaze of Garden State glory with a two song set featuring “Land of Hope and Dreams” and “Born to Run.”
You can watch video of that performance below, and the entire episode here. Towards the end of the mini-set, Stewart gave out high fives and hugs to the band as the show’s various correspondents crowded along the front of the stage area.
“Thanks for everything, Jon,” says Springsteen. “We wish you happy and safe travels.”
As do we.
