Last week Converse Rubber Tracks put out a call for bands to enter to win a chance to record at their new studio here in Boston and earn a slot playing Newport Folk Fest. With the days counting down until the start of the annual music festival in Rhode Island, Converse just announced the winners: Boston folk trio Honeysuckle, North Carolina psych-pop duo Ancient Cities, and Maine folk quartet The Ghost of Paul Revere.
Winners were announced moments ago via Twitter.
Each band will perform this weekend at Newport Folk. Friday’s opening slate features performances by Roger Waters, Tallest Man On Earth, the Lone Bellow, Hiss Golden Messenger, and others.
In addition to the Newport Folk gig, each band scores two days of free studio time at Rubber Tracks to record with Seth Manchester, acclaimed producer from Rhode Island-based analog and digital recording studio Machines With Magnets. The recording days will be held the week of July 27 to August 1, so this is a pretty immediate prize for all parties.
Congrats: @Ancient_Cities @NorthernGhosts & #Honeysuckle for being selected for our @rubbertracksnyc set on FRI. http://t.co/HKImQXXRWS
