On Tuesday, the world got an unexpected promise: A new song from multinational indie rock band Yuck was soon on the way. The message read: “Hey dudes… It has been a really bro-motional journey and it really is coming to a climax. I can’t wait to share it with you all. But not now *presses index finger gently to your lips* …tomorrow. [fade to black]”
Sure enough, Wednesday was greeted with the good news. Yuck returned with new single “Hold Me Closer”, a track that gleefully jumps back a few years and sounds quite like their early, fuzzy lo-fi material that had us all swooning around SXSW 2011.
The new song, which you can hear below, complete with Shark Week-themed album artwork, should be part of a new record due next year, following 2013 LP Glow & Behold and last year’s Southern Skies EP. Yuck also unveiled five East Coast tour dates set for next month; hopefully more are on the way.
