UPDATE 8:56 p.m.: As expected, the song has landed on YouTube. Scroll down for the embed.
Earlier today Spanish radio station RTVE apparently leaked the new Beach House single, “Sparks,” giving it some airplay before its anticipated premiere this afternoon on SiriusXM. Everyone … jumped … all … over … it… and you, too, can preview it below.
It starts up just after the 30 minute mark.
The hazy dream-pop song, which sounds like a nice mix of Cocteau Twins and My Bloody Valentine, is the first of new music off Beach House’s highly-anticpated new album Depression Cherry, out August 28. And now that it’s been properly premiered on satellite radio, expect it to be embeddable on other formats.
While we wait, click the RTVE link below and check the Baltimore duo’s full run of late summer and fall tour dates — a stretch that plays Portland, Northampton, Burlington, Providence, and New Haven… but not Boston.
There’s also no New York date in the list below, and a gaping hole between August 26 and September 17, so surely more Beach House shows will surface between now and the release of Depression Cherry. The new LP is the follow-up to 2012 LP Bloom.
