Every summer, we daydream about packing up and heading west, driving all the way out to California to start a new life. When we finally get on Interstate 90 and head towards the Pacific Ocean, we generally lose interest in the whole idea somewhere around Western Massachusetts. Hopefully one of these annual New England jailbreaks coincides with the Northampton Summer Concert Series, which yesterday announced its 2015 lineup.
Presented by The Collective Music Group the free, outdoor, Friday night live music series in downtown Northampton will feature Avi Jacob, Amy & the Engine, Eddie Japan, Sarah Blacker, and others. It goes down over five weeks from July 17 to August 14 in downtown Northampton.
It’s a good excuse to get in the car and head west.
“Last year the Courthouse Lawn provided our bands and sponsors with the next level of exposure, and also gave our attendees a much more comfortable space to relax and enjoy the music,” says producer Jamie Kent, who will also perform, in a presser. “It also gave us the opportunity to showcase fantastic local food and crafts, and to develop a new Kids Zone.”
The closing night of the Northampton Summer Concert Series features a partnership with the Northampton Jazz Festival in previewing the September festival’s local jazz talent.
“The series continues to give us an amazing opportunity to showcase the wonderful talent rising out of the valley, and to pair them with the best up and coming independent national acts here right before they explode,” adds Kent.
