Breaking Out: Bully expand tour, stream new LP ‘Feels Like’, prepare to soundtrack your entire summer

When the Boston Calling announced its September lineup a few weeks ago, the music fest unveiled its standard artist poster with the headliners up top and the newer national acts at the bottom, just above the two locals. On that poster, you can interpret that Bully was listed last, “under” bands like FIDLAR and Stephen Malkmus & the Jicks and “to the right” of Grizfolk, Doomtree, and the Staves.

By the time September’s Boston Calling rolls around, Bully should be one of the biggest bands playing City Hall Plaza — or at least have the most buzz.

The fuzzed-out Nashville alt-rock band, who just opened for Best Coast at the Paradise this past Friday, are going to spend the summer playing in your headspace. This week, Bully announced their fall North American tour, which follows a few more Best Coast dates and two heavyweight Chicago festival appearances, Pitchfork Music Festival (Jul 17 to 20) and Lollapalooza (July 31). It’s all good timing, as their new LP Feels Like is officially out June 23 on Startime International/Columbia, and can be heard streaming right now via NPR First Listen.

Though we recommend hearing the entire thing by clicking the link above, also check out the video for the album’s second single, “Trying,” via the Vimeo embed below; Bully’s full run of 2015 dates, including the last few shows with Best Coast and all their summer festival appearances, are after the video.
