When Peter Hook announced back in March that he would play Joy Division’s entire catalogue on today, May 18, the 35th anniversary of Ian Curtis’ suicide, we already knew the list of songs he was going to play. But that has not taken away from the intensity of seeing the set list for tonight’s show at the Christ Church in Macclesfield, which was just posted by legendary photographer Kevin Cummins on Twitter.
Taking place across the pond as we hit “publish” on this post, Peter Hook & the Light are midway through a 46-song set in performing the complete works of Joy Division, in honor of the band’s late frontman.
“The band will play every track ever written and recorded by the band at this singular concert at the beautiful 18th Century place of worship,” reads the event description. “Proceeds from the event are to be donated to The Epilepsy Society and The Churches Conservation Trust, with the donation to the CCT earmarked for the redevelopment of Christ Church.”
We wish we were there.
