Calling Back: Kendrick Lamar drops ‘King Kunta’ video, rocks a vintage New England Patriots jacket

King of 2015 hip-hop Kendrick Lamar may be Los Angeles’ favorite son, but he’s got love for our town 3,000 east. Back in September 2013, he stole the show at Boston Calling, unseating headliners Passion Pit and Vampire Weekend and injecting unrivaled energy across City Hall Plaza just as the sun was setting.

Tonight, he’s repping Boston once again, in perhaps the unlikeliest of places — his new video for “King Kunta”, the third single off recent last month’s acclaimed To Pimp A Butterfly. Lamar spends a good deal of the video, filmed at the Compton Swap Meet in his California hometown, rocking a vintage New England Patriots jacket with Pat Patriot over his left chest. Get a good look at the jacket down below.

Of course, he’s got his LA Dodgers cap on, as well. But we’ll take it.

The “King Kunta” video debuted earlier tonight via the Beats by Dre billboard in New York City, located at 46th and Broadway in Times Square. The clip was directed by Director X, and you can check it below.

And here’s video of that aforementioned Boston Calling performance.
