This past December, Louie Bello’s Wednesday night Abby Lane concert series was named Best Live Ongoing Residency in the 2014 Boston Music Awards. After this weekend, he might be looking to start up a new series 20,000 feet in the air.
Fresh off a string of gigs at South By Southwest that included a Riverboat showcase with Tigerman WOAH and others, Bello kept the party going after he left Austin on Saturday by singing an a cappella version of Blackstreet’s ’90s r&b jam “No Diggity” on his JetBlue flight back to Boston.
“The stewardess recognized me and came over and asked if could I follow her to the front of plane,” Bello tells Vanyaland. “Then, she put me on the spot and said ‘Can you sing to us now?’ I said sure… was the best feeling and luckily there was no turbulence.”
Bello’s wasn’t done there, either, as he’ll be performing later this afternoon at the Hard Rock Cafe in Boston; details on that show down below after the video.
