This is our idea of a good time — Garbage will be celebrating their acclaimed debut album later this year.
The Shirley Manson-fronted alt-rock band announced a pair of shows commemorating the 20th anniversary of Garbage, the August 1995 LP that sold four million copies and spawned still-scorching singles like “Stupid Girl,” “Only Happy When It Rains,” “Queer,” and our personal favorite, “Vow.”
As of now, unfortunately, both of those shows are in Europe: November 7 at Zénith de Paris in France, and November 8 at London’s O2 Academy Brixton. Tickets to both gigs go on sale March 6.
But it’s highly unlikely that Garbage will go to all the trouble of dusting off a two-decades-old record and creating the “20 Years Queer” campaign for only two shows, so surely more dates will be announced later this year — and hopefully they are on our side of the Atlantic.
Meanwhile, Garbage’s last studio record was 2012’s Not Your Kind Of People, and in January they teased out two new tracks for an upcoming Record Store Day release. They’ll also play the Pa’l Norte Festival in Monterrey, Mexico, on April 25.
Stay tuned.
